1832 Gear 1832 Large Cent used as gear

This is the nicest gear I have seen. Very well made and the coin still appears to be a VF20 despite the use as a gear. It is a N-3 variety. I bought this one on eBay 7/17/09.

1833 Gear 1833 Large Cent used as gear?

This is a interesting piece. Another coin used as a gear. The date is easier to see in hand. This one is a Newcomb 6 variety and in a LDS which is evident from the many die cracks.

1851 Gear 1851 Large Cent used as gear

This gear may have also been used as a pie cutter since it has teeth only on the obverse. 1/20/12

1854 1854 Large Cent Pie Crimper?

1854 Cent apparently used as a pie crimper. I traded a 1849N2 large cent to Bill Simonson for this piece.

1817 Brockage 1817 Full Rev Brockage

This piece was a part of the Sam Thurman Collection which I recently purchased. It will be offered in the EAC07 Annual Convention auction held in St Louis. UPDATE...It sold in the auction for $1200 plus juice!

1818 N1 1818 N-1 5-10% Off Center

EAC Grellman graded VG8/4. This coin was ex Sam Thurman which I aquired on 10/10/06. I sold the coin in the 2007 EAC Sale in St Louis. I then repurchased the coin on eBay 1 month later from Roger Lyles for $100 less then what it sold at the EAC sale for. I plan to hang onto it this time.

1845 Fake Brockage 1845 Fake Brockage

It is made of lead and was made by smashing two coins together. It is heavy...weighing 272grains and slightly larger than a normal large cent. It is a crud attempt to look like a brockage. ex Jim Mariani 10/22/11.

1850's Fake Brockage 1850's Fake Brockage

I picked this one up on eBay as a fake. It is a crud attempt to look like a brockage.

Im not so sure this is a mint made error but I display it as it is. ex Jim Mariani 10/22/11.
